Nudgee Beach Environmental Education Centre (NBEEC) is situated in the suburb of Nudgee Beach, 19 km from the Brisbane CBD. The location provides a variety of diverse environments to explore, including Moreton Bay Marine Park, Nudgee Creek, Nar-dha (Nudgee waterholes) and the Bora Ring within the Nudgee Waterhole Reserve, the Boondall Wetlands Reserve to the north and west, and the Kedron Brook Floodway.
The learning intent and outcomes come from the Australian Curriculum using the diverse estuarine ecosystem consisting of the wetlands, mangroves, saltmarsh, marine environments and their catchments along the Mountains to Mangroves corridor.
Students explore and investigate the reserve which is more than 600ha in size. The areas used are ideal for identification activities using dichotomous keys, studying adaptations, biodiversity, natural resources, nature corridors and human impacts.
