Allison
Principal
Allison is a passionate educator, with a strong connection to nature and a desire to take care of it. She grew up in Far North Queensland in a little town called Mirriwinni, located at the bottom of Mount Bartle Frere, where she developed her love of spending time outdoors. After completing her teaching degree, she had the privilege of returning to the north to make a difference teaching many students in various schools located in Far North Queensland. During this time, she was privileged to work at Tinaroo Environmental Education Centre for 14 years where she further developed her skills in teaching environmental education for sustainability. Allison truly believes that learning outdoors gives students the opportunity to engage with nature and capture that 'wow" moment that leads to a greater appreciation and understanding of the environment, so that they are empowered to act to take care of the environment. She believes that what we do today to live sustainably can make a huge difference for the future of our planet.
After moving to Brisbane 10 years ago, Allison shared her love of teaching environmental education and creating engaging outdoor learning spaces with colleagues at Aspley East SS. Now at Nudgee Beach Environmental Education, she loves that she is welcoming students as 'Nature Scientists' from schools located all over Brisbane on a daily basis, who have the opportunity to enhance their learning through engaging with the Australian Curriculum in hands on, real life, place based pedagogy. Allison enjoys working in a team environment and feels privileged to be working alongside an expert teaching team delivering high quality programs in the Nudgee Beach area of Moreton Bay. She loves that all staff work together to provide a welcoming, positive, inclusive and supportive place for all to enjoy.

Kim
Teacher
Kim began her teaching journey after discovering a love for sharing her environmental and wildlife knowledge with the wider community. Her teaching philosophy is that every student is capable of success and deserving of an engaging and fulfilling education. She thoroughly enjoys using the natural environment as her classroom and always encourages inquiry-based and play-based learning.
Prior to the completion of her Master of Teaching (Primary; with a specialisation in science), Kim studied a Bachelor of Science (Honours), majoring in Marine Biology and Ecology. Her Honours thesis focused on marine conservation and investigated the impact of urbanisation on resident shorebirds, in the northern region of Moreton Bay. After graduating, Kim spent several years working for the local government, educating the community about environmental compliance and animal management.
Kim has an innate desire to help young people develop into happy, knowledgeable, and productive adults. She cannot wait to meet and educate new students on the importance of environmental conservation!
