Fantastic features

Year 5 students will study how living things have structural features and adaptations that help them to survive in their environment.

During a walk at Fortitude Street, students will study the structural features and adaptations of various plant species (Grey Mangrove, Cotton Tree, Pandanus palm and Pig-Face), becoming aware of how these features help them to survive in their environment.

After the walk, students will be transported to NBEEC school to partake in a beach exploration (dragnet fishing, fine sieving and yabby pumping) to discover the adaptations of various marine creatures (soldier crabs, yabbies, leaden sand snail and mud whelk) which enable them to survive in their environment.
