Biodiversity and the interconnectedness of life
Years 11–12 ecologists will visit Nudgee Beach EEC twice over a period of time to complete both their mandatory practicals and student experiment.
During their mandatory practicals they will
participate in a range of experiments and investigations to familiarise themselves with the marine ecosystem. NBEEC Centre staff will provide explicit instruction in how to conduct a range of sampling methodologies to
develop skills in sampling ecological systems, organising and analysing data. Students will collect abiotic and biotic
data in undisturbed and disturbed sites at Nudgee Beach.
Students will reflect on their mandatory practical experience and choose one focus area for their individualised research question for their student experiment. NBEEC Centre staff will contact the class teacher to organise a class visit with students, either by TEAMs or in person, to discuss focus areas and the organisation of equipment lists, before students visit to collect data for their student experiment.
