Nudgee Beach Environmental Education Centre teachers design programs and the sequence of learning to align with curriculum needs. Individual student needs, curriculum requirements and health and safety considerations are discussed with the visiting teacher prior to the excursion. Centre programs are not meant to be prescriptive and teaching staff can realign learning experiences to meet the needs of the visiting students in order to maximise the learning outcomes.
The experiences offered at the Centre are action based and use a variety of hands-on “Learning Beyond the Classroom” teaching and learning strategies and resources. The local mangroves, beach, Nar-dha and the bora-ring provide exceptional venues to investigate the environment through Science, Geography and History, the Arts and Health and Physical Education, as well as the cross curriculum priorities of Aboriginal and Torres Straits Islander histories and cultures and Sustainability. Centre staff incorporate conservation practices throughout the day such as waste minimisation strategies.
Schools who book for more than three year levels will have priority placements.
