A post graduate Diploma in Outdoor Education has led to 27 years’ experience in Environmental Education Centres in South East Queensland. Expertise in sailing, a passion for the marine environment and an interest in plants has taken Mary-Ann around the world and on extensive travel within Australia. As an educator, a curriculum leader and teaching principal, Mary-Ann enjoys working with students, leading them on a journey of discovery learning about this amazing planet and its flora and fauna.
Garry’s involvement with environmental education stems from a fascination with our natural world. He has extensive experience and knowledge of Australian plants and wildlife. With a background in reptile and wildlife training, Garry is also a skilled senior biology teacher with a thirst for knowledge. He believes his role as an environmental education facilitator is to deliver quality learning experiences from the best classroom on Earth, the outdoors.
Amy has a background in environmental interpretation gained from her undergraduate degree in Marine Studies and Sustainability at the University of the Sunshine Coast. After working at the Sealife Centre in Birmingham UK as an education officer, she returned to Queensland to complete her recent studies in science education.
Amy is passionate about the local marine environment and she thoroughly enjoys working at Nudgee Beach Environmental Education Centre because of the support, care and opportunities working on a small staff offers to her professionally, and to the participants of the programs. To be part of a team who continues to strive for excellence in education while encouraging the younger generation to be mindful of the natural environment has been a fantastic opportunity for Amy to share and extend her skills in sustainability. She appreciates being part of a team who is passionate about education and the environment and loves welcoming the enthusiastic students and teachers who come to learn and identify with this special part of Moreton Bay.
Cathy has been involved in environmental education and teaching of the arts for more than 10 years within her employment with Education Queensland. She has worked in a range of diverse roles but has always had an enthusiasm for an environmental outlook and perspective within these roles.
She believes very strongly in children learning through enquiry, discovery and hands-on activities, all easily accessed in the environment. It is through these that the child is able to generate ownership of the learning and facilitate information retention as it develops a new way of experience and approaching learning.
