Our staff

Allison is a passionate educator, with a strong connection to nature and a desire to take care of it. She grew up in Far North Queensland in a little town called Mirriwinni, located at the bottom of Mount Bartle Frere, where she developed her love of spending time outdoors. After completing her teaching degree, she had the privilege of returning to the north to make a difference teaching many students in various schools located in Far North Queensland. During this time, she was privileged to work at Tinaroo Environmental Education Centre for 14 years where she further developed her skills in teaching environmental education for sustainability.  Allison truly believes that learning outdoors gives students the opportunity to engage with nature and capture that 'wow" moment that leads to a greater appreciation and understanding of the environment, so that they are empowered to act to take care of the environment.  She believes that what we do today to live sustainably can make a huge difference for the future of our planet.

After moving to Brisbane 9 years ago, Allison shared her love of teaching environmental education and creating engaging outdoor learning spaces with colleagues at Aspley East SS. Now at Nudgee Beach Environmental Education, she loves that she is welcoming students as 'Nature Scientists' from schools located all over Brisbane on a daily basis, who have the opportunity to enhance their learning through engaging with the Australian Curriculum in hands on, real life, place based pedagogy. Allison enjoys working in a team environment and feels privileged to be working alongside an expert teaching team delivering high quality programs in the Nudgee Beach area of Moreton Bay.  She loves that all staff work together to provide a welcoming, positive, inclusive and supportive place for all to enjoy.

Amy has a background in environmental interpretation gained from her undergraduate degree in Marine Studies and Sustainability at the University of the Sunshine Coast. After working at the Sealife Centre in Birmingham UK as an education officer, she returned to Queensland to complete her recent studies in science education.

Amy is passionate about the local marine environment and she thoroughly enjoys working at Nudgee Beach Environmental Education Centre because of the support, care and opportunities working on a small staff offers to her professionally, and to the participants of the programs. To be part of a team who continues to strive for excellence in education while encouraging the younger generation to be mindful of the natural environment has been a fantastic opportunity for Amy to share and extend her skills in sustainability. She appreciates being part of a team who is passionate about education and the environment and loves welcoming the enthusiastic students and teachers who come to learn and identify with this special part of Moreton Bay.

Garry’s involvement with environmental education stems from a fascination with our natural world. He has extensive experience and knowledge of Australian plants and wildlife. Garry is also a skilled senior biology teacher with a thirst for knowledge. He believes his role as an environmental education facilitator is to deliver quality learning experiences from the best classroom on Earth, the outdoors.

Following a career in Environmental Science across NSW and WA, Kate brings a wealth of expertise in the sciences and geography to the Nudgee Beach EEC team.
